Government Holiday in Odisha Declared on January 17

Bhubaneswar: The state government has declared January 17 a holiday in order to encourage public involvement in the opening of the Jagannath temple cultural corridor project in Puri, Odisha.

The Chief Minister's Office (CMO) announced in a statement today that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has proclaimed January 17 as an official holiday in Odisha. This is so that people may attend the launch of the Srimandir Parikrama project in Puri.

Representatives from at least 90 religious organizations and shrines throughout the nation have been invited by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) to attend the massive celebration.

It is anticipated that over 5 lakh devotees would attend the historic corridor project's groundbreaking event.

At least 44 platoons of police officers will be sent by the government to Puri on this special day in order to provide security, uphold law and order, and oversee traffic.

According to insiders, it has deployed some 500 CCTV cameras throughout the seaside town as part of its impenetrable security plans for the massive gathering.
